Press release
At the origin of the creation of the school, a clear observation: in 2020, in France, out of the 550,000 students of private higher education groups, only 800 were trained in Cybersecurity through specialized training, generally post-Master engineer. A figure that should “climb” in 2022 to 1,100… barely covering 17% of national demand.
It was to deal with this critical situation that three former Solvay executives decided a few months ago to take the “bull by the horns.” It is clear that since then, they have not been idle: newly installed in a 2,400m 2 building a few minutes from the Gare Lyon Part-Dieu, CSB.School will welcome its first students – more than a hundred expected – next September as part of one of its “Bachelor” or “Master” programs.
Patrice Chelim, the General Director, explains:
CSB.School is the first school dedicated to cybersecurity management. It’s simple: there is no other in France. Created by, with and for cybersecurity and management professionals. Our goal ? Allow companies to finally be able to rely on talents with recognized skills, with ad hoc certifications, who have followed an innovative hybrid training course developed by cybersecurity and education professionals.
The list of specificities of the establishment is long… (…and not devoid of interest). Among them, on the candidate side, are:
Full tuition fees covered: the founders of CSB.School are convinced that quality education must be accessible to all
The school is responsible for finding, for each student, his work-study contract (therefore paid) thanks to its various partnerships: Schneider Electric, PwC France, Devoteam, Stormshield, Excube, AugmentedCISO…
A recruitment based on soft skills (no cover letter required to join the school…)
Free to choose: training adapted to the initial skills of the learner, defined after assessment of the achievements, in order to eliminate “useless courses”
No grades: either a skill is validated or it is not…
Professional certifications: certifications are often worth more in the sector than the diploma, the training courses integrate their preparation as well as their passage (CEH, CISSP, etc.)
Practice: Cybersecurity is all about practice. Training is 70% based on application, testing and training
Teaching quality: All school staff are seasoned professionals
As part of its initial training, the school now offers a “Bachelor” (Bac+3) with specializations in IT Cybersecurity (IT) or Industrial Cybersecurity (OT), as well as a “Master”, in 2 years ( M1 & M2), accessible after license, with 4 possible specializations IT, OT, SOC (Crisis and incident management) & GRC (Governance, Risks and Compliance).
Convinced by the quality of the project and by the means put in place, the companies were not mistaken, many are already knocking at the door of the school anxious to welcome one or more students from the one or other of these routes in the coming weeks. Who in the idea of offering them, at the end of the course, a position of Security Architect, who of CISO Assistant, who others of Cybersecurity Threat Analyst, Technical Security Auditor, ‘SOC operator analyst, CSIRT manager, project manager, lawyer specializing in cybersecurity, data protection officer… So many positions that they have great difficulty filling today.
Eventually, other programs should also see the light of day: continuing education, preparation for certifications & “bootcamp” training. »
Patrice Chelim conclusion:
Faced with both the marked interest of students and the strong demand from companies, we are considering, in addition to that of September, the opportunity of a second start of the school year, postponed to next February. Moreover, on the strength of the enthusiasm generated by the opening of the school, we plan to duplicate this model in France but also, why not, later, internationally.
